The Conference of Religious India (CRI) — North East Region is the official body that brings together men and women religious congregations working across the North-Eastern states to promote communion, collaboration, and the common mission of consecrated life.
It provides an enduring forum for consecrated persons to journey together, pool resources, respond to emerging pastoral realities, and bear collective witness to the Gospel through education, healthcare, social justice, and evangelization.

The national conference uniting Major Superiors (Provincials, Superior Generals, and Regional Superiors) of all Catholic religious congregations across India, guiding national policies, canonical communion, and liaison with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI).

Brings together religious congregations working across the North-Eastern states to facilitate shared formation programs, regional assemblies, pastoral coordination, emergency social interventions, and mutual support suited to the cultural realities of the Northeast.

Units organized at the diocesan and local levels where priests, brothers, and sisters ministering in local parishes, schools, hospitals, and remote mission stations gather regularly for prayer, fellowship, and coordinated pastoral action.
CRI brings together diverse religious congregations—contemplative, apostolic, clerical, and lay—so they can share spiritual treasures, personnel, institutional resources, and apostolic initiatives for a unified ecclesial witness.
Promotes ongoing formation for junior religious, formators, and superiors through spiritual retreats, theological seminars, psycho-spiritual workshops, and leadership development that renews zeal for the Gospel.
Collaborates closely with diocesan bishops, the North East Diocesan Priests’ Forum, and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference in evangelization, parish ministry, academic excellence, medical care, and socio-economic transformation.
Religious communities stand united through CRI in addressing poverty, illiteracy, human trafficking, safe migration, tribal rights, women’s empowerment, child welfare, ecology, and rapid disaster relief during regional crises.
Facilitates seamless communication, solidarity, and strategic planning among Major Superiors, community animators, and religious houses across difficult mountain terrains and state boundaries.
